Mixed weather was forecast for Saturday throughout day one of the Masters Historic Festival. Qualifying was early that morning, Chris and Matt set about making use of the conditions which gave them a more level playing field as the weather voided the V8’s and their massive power advantages.

Sure enough the weather allowed Chris and Matt to compete with the V8’s, infact by the end of qualifying Matt had taken pole position by over 1.2 seconds in the E-Type! but only after a frantic fight in qualifying to the chequered flag between Matt, Mike Whitaker – TVR, Simon Hadfield – AC Cobra and Roger Wills Bizzarini – 5300GT.

Donington “Historic Festival” – HTCC – Round 1 Winners!

The Donington Historic Festival was again held over the May bank holiday weekend with good weather forecast throughout for the teams return to historic racing in 2014.

Chris Scragg had his original works Broadspeed XJ12C competing in “The Historic Touring Car Challenge” for the first time in eighteen months; with the tragic news on Friday of a fatal road accident that involved ex Broadspeed mechanic Nigel Stepney (who had regarded the car as his favourite car of all time!) we all hoped to honour his life with a set of highly competitive results.
