Jim Patten of Jaguar World recently read our blog articles kindly provided by one of our long term clients, Guy Vinall regarding his small group of friends and their classic car club which tours various parts of the globe. M & C Wilkinson are privileged to be able to maintain and prepare the car for each event along with the XK120 of Norman Roper. The article below written by Jim features a history of Guy and his most recent tours in the car.
M & C Wilkinson have recently competed in the 2015 Jaguar ‘Champion of Champions’ Concourse at the annual ‘Classic Car Show’ at the NEC in Birmingham with one of our long term clients E-Type series 2 FHC. The E-Type was awarded the best E-Type in show and third overall. A fantastic achievement for client and the M & C Team for all their hard work together in preparation for the event.
Our client kindly wrote the following testimonial prior to the event detailing the cars history and the restoration work carried out by M & C Wilkinson;
M & C Wilkinson have recently completed the restoration of a very special MK1 prepared by the Jaguar factory in 1959 for Tommy Sopwith’s renowned “Equipe Endeavour” race team, which was driven by 1955 Le Mans winner Ivor Bueb and Jack Sears.
The car won every race it was entered in including Goodwood on two occasions. The only time that the car did not win was during the Snetterton 100 mile race as after setting pole position and fastest lap the car lost brakes and was only able to finish second.
Following the tragic loss of Ivor Bueb in 1959, the car was mothballed and taken away from the public domain by Tommy Sopwith and finally all these years on is set to be a part of the next Goodwood Revival.
Gordon Cruickshank kindly featured “IVA 400” and its incredible history in the October 2015 issue of Motorsport Magazine as below
M & C Wilkinson were approached earlier this year by one of long standing clients to again prepare his MK1 for his next rally in Spain. Following his return he kindly supplied the following testimonial to thank the team for their continued support over the recent years maintaing and upgrading the car for long distance use;
The E-Type Club magazine has kindly provided in their latest issue race reports on the final two rounds of the Jaguar Heritage Challenge where M & C Wilkinson achieved second overall at the Nurburgring in Germany and first place at the Oulton Park Gold Cup with Michael driving the family’s Ex-Sir Jackie Stewart E-Type with John Bussell to take victory in the final round of the series this year.
