BRAKE CONVERSION KITS

Braking in an emergency on classic Jaguars was always a hit & miss affair. The original Dunlop/Girling piston cylinders never provided the quality of braking that classic Jaguars needed.

Our conversion kits give you increased braking pressure and will therefore make your classic Jaguar stop faster for today’s driving conditions.

This 4 pot conversion kit fits straight on to your suspension uprights without any modification, utilising the original solid brake discs and brake hoses. This is a quick and easy conversion to fit and is supplied complete with brake pads.

POWER STEERING CONVERSION KITS

Jaguar MK2 power steering while fine in its day, now has 40 years behind it and is disappointing compared with modern sports saloons. Parts to service and repair the ageing power steering are virtually impossible to locate and can still be unreliable after rebuilding.

M & C Wilkinson have used modern technology and improved components to develop a pressure sensitive power rack and pinion system to enhance our original already successful engine driven pump system. The advantages of using an electric powered pump unit are quicker and simpler installation and a much better feel to the steering, giving a more positive feedback. They offer the performance and reliability expected of modern cars today. This is due to the combined electronic and hydraulic sensing circuits built into the system, which supply just the right amount of hydraulic pressure needed by the steering rack to manoeuvre the vehicle under all conditions.

There are some other alterations required in order to fit this unit, in that the Dynamo and Voltage Regulator have to be removed and replaced by a high output Alternator, which is essential in the days of alarms, electronic ignition and high output sound systems. In order to do this the vehicle polarity has to be changed from Positive to Negative Earth. This will entail having to disconnect the electric clock as this is for Positive earth use only, and a check on the fuel pump to ascertain whether it has a later Positive Earth only unit fitted.

MK2/XK  5 SPEED BORG WARNER T5 GEARBOX CONVERSION KIT

Based on the world class Borg Warner T5 5 speed gearbox this gearbox in available for the E-type 6 cyl and 12 cyl, MK2, XK120, XK140 and XK150.

The gearbox is hand assembled with close tolerances to improve performance and durability. The tailhousing and output shafts are used to bring the levers into the correct position. Ratios are 1st gear 2.95, 2nd gear 1.94, 3rd gear 1.34, 4th gear 1.0 and 5th gear 0.83.

The conversion kit is supplied with a gearbox, adaptor plate, spigot bush, centralising ring and bracket. The propshaft will have to be modified, however, we can supply a new propshaft if required. Also now available we have a gearknob with the T5 shaft pattern to give that all important finishing touch.

BRAKE SERVO

Our brake servos are original reconditioned units which are much more efficient than aftermarket units.  They are supplied on an exchange basis.

GETRAG 5 SPEED CONVERSION KIT

This conversion can be fitted to most models with relative ease and very few modifications are required to be made as the gear lever has been designed to fit in exactly the same location with a standard Jaguar clutch.   The getrag five-speed gearbox conversion allows a classic car to have today’s modern technology fitted which improves gear change due to the close ratio gears and is very user friendly making the car a pleasure to drive.

This is a reconditioned box supplied with new fittings and a warranty.

There are two versions of this gearbox the BMW short box which is fitted to the E-type 6 cylinder models and the Jaguar long box which is used on MK2/XK150/Daimler V8

UPRATED HEATER KITS

Replace the existing unreliable heater components with an uprated motor, matrix and fan which can be fitted with ease to your existing heater box.

We can either supply the parts for you to fit yourself or we can fit these to your own heater box for you at an extra cost.

We are an agent for Double S Exhaust systems which are supplied with a lifetime guarantee if purchasing a full system within 12 months.  The systems are made of a double stainless construction and we can supply with or without a 6 branch manifold.


GAZ COIL OVER FRONT SHOCK ABSORBERS

These have been designed for our race winning race cars and are made exclusively for M & C Wilkinson and are made of a semi alloy and steel construction.

They are fully adjustable with approximately 26 position damping and ride height.  They are supplied with specially developed springs which are rated for the type of use eg fast road, rally or race.  These shock absorbers are fully rebuildable and are supplied with a warranty (not applicable in rally or race use).

ALTERNATOR CONVERSION KIT

A quality conversion kit to remove the existing unreliable dynamo and replace with a brand new alternator.

The kits are all supplied with fittings to utilise the existing dynamo kit whilst the E-type 3.8 kit is supplied with a new bracket (as pictured).


HIGH TORQUE STARTER MOTORS

Banish those cold morning starts with our brand new high torque, lightweight, gear reduction starter motors.  All of our starter motors are a direct replacement for the original unit.

These units are a ‘Denso’ built in the UK and are supplied with a full warranty.

ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTOR KIT

Brand new Lucas Distributor converted to be electronic whilst retaining the original appearance.  It has a powerful pick-up and amplifier built into the base plate and is all fully integral to the distributor. A simple points or sports type coil is not powerful enough and our Lucas type ‘constant energy’ high powered coil comes complete with every kit.  This type of electronic ignition is to suit –ve earth vehicles only. A positive earth kit is available and a Lucas sports coil can be used in this application.

All kits are supplied with new leads either sealed for life or ht leads and ends if you wish to retain the original appearance of the car.
